The Pride of Parkers Prairie, Travis Yohnke

North Dakota State’s prestigious individual football camp wraps later today and when it does the Bison coaching staff will hope the phones will be ringing off the hook in the offices in the Fargodome. They didn’t have to wait for the phone to ring Saturday, as one of the top players in the state of Minnesota verbally committed to play at NDSU.

Travis Yohnke, a 6’4, 230 pound tight end committed to NDSU on Saturday. Yohnke hails from Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, a Class A school that posted a 4-5 record in 2017. Yohnke emerged as a dynamic playmaker, racking up 46 catches for 682 yards and nine touchdowns. Yohnke has been a three sport star for the Panthers, playing basketball and helping the baseball team win the state championship last spring.

Yohnke had six offers that were known of; NDSU, SDSU, Northern Iowa, South Dakota and North Dakota. He did have one FBS offer from Eastern Michigan. There’s an NDSU connection to Parkers Prairie, former Bison sharpshooter Mike Felt is the basketball coach there.

Yohnke visited the Kolpack and Izzo show in early May to discuss his recruitment and how it was going, you can hear the interview below.

Yohnke was a high profile target for NDSU with this class, he was ranked in the top 20 of seniors in the state of Minnesota. He’s the third commit for the Class of 2019. Stay tuned to the blog, as there likely will be more commits coming in the next few days.
