The First Commit of 2019, Luke Weerts

The First Commit of 2019, Luke Weerts

North Dakota State is on the board for 2019.

The Bison received their first verbal commitment for the Class of 2019 on Wednesday, as Batavia, Illinois’ Luke Weerts announced on Twitter that he’s coming to Fargo.

Weerts was a highly sought after talent in Illinois, receiving a total of seventeen offers, ranging from Kansas State and Cincinnati to UND and Northern Iowa.

Weerts is coming off a state championship in 2017, a season where he racked up 129 tackles and 8.5 sacks.

You can listen to my interview with Weerts below, as I asked him why NDSU over the FBS offers and what type of player he is. Enjoy.

Watched his Hudl highlights. This guy is a headhunter and he should look really good in green & gold. His comments show the strength of Bison culture as a recruiting tool.

I absolutely love the respect given. Something I’ve been missing with the newest generations. Answering questions with Yes sir and no sir. You’ll go far Mr. Weerts with that attitude.
