STATS.com Media Poll: The Princeton Equation

STATS.com Media Poll: The Princeton Equation

My vote in this week’s STATS.com top 25 media poll. Another round of shakeups in Nos. 10-25 plus the JMU loss. Got a nice email from a Princeton gentleman, a 1974 grad, who pointed out some positive factors for his squad. Princeton defeated Butler 50-7 early in the season, not long after Butler beat Youngstown. The Tiger are unbeaten and beat previously unbeaten Dartmouth. Points well taken, but I’d still like to see a better non-conference schedule from the Ivys. Princeton played Monmouth (Big South), Lehigh (Patriot) and Butler (Pioneer) in its three non-league games.

Until the Ivys start playing CAA, SoCon, Missouri Valley or Big Sky foes on a regular non-conference basis, it’s hard to get a feel for their strength on a national basis. Lehigh traditionally is good, but is 2-7 this year. Monmouth is having a good year, but has a big gauge this Saturday against Kennesaw. That said, I put Princeton at No. 17. If Monmouth beats KSU, much higher next week.
