North Dakota State completed an improbable run to the Summit League Tournament championship Tuesday night in Sioux Falls, defeating Omaha 73-63. League newcomer of the year Vinnie Shahid hit a three-pointer that broke a 51 all tie and the Bison never looked back in winning the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Shahid had a game high 22 points and was nearly unguardable in the second half. Tyson Ward added 15 points and Cam Hunter had 12, including three first half three-pointers.
Omaha was led by Mitch Hahn’s 16 points, while Matt Pile had 12 points but also battled foul trouble in the first half.
NDSU wins its fourth Summit League Tournament title and first since 2015. They will find out who and where they’ll be playing on the Selection Show Sunday night on CBS.
