The first road game for North Dakota State doesn’t come till October 6th this season for the Bison and it’s at one of the toughest places to play, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Northern Iowa has been all over the map the last few years with playoff appearances in 2011, 2014, 2015 and last year. The curious stat on that is they’ve been beaten by a Valley team in 2014, 2015 and last year (Illinois State, NDSU and SDSU).
The Panthers always have talent and that will be the case again this season, they bring back quarterback Eli Dunne and running back Marcus Weymiller on offense, with the talented Xavior Williams in the secondary. UNI’s schedule is always a topic of conversation for how they schedule in the non-conference and this season is no different, opening the year at Montana, then an FBS game at Iowa before hosting Hampton.
Northern Iowa Panthers
- Missouri Valley Football Conference, 8-5 record in 2017
- Four playoff appearances since 2011, quarterfinalist in 2011 and 2015
- UNI leads all-time series, 26-25
